PlayStation VR2: Four More Games Join The Launch Line-Up [VIDEO]

The more expensive virtual reality headset than the PlayStation 5 will feature more than a few games at launch.

Capcom has announced that a VR mode will arrive in Resident Evil: Village as free DLC for PlayStation VR2. Quoting Capcom, “VR Mode supports the entire campaign and lifts the award-winning experience to new heights. A more profound and captivating adventure awaits with PlayStation VR2, as Ethan Winters’ journey takes full advantage of the headset’s advanced features. VR Mode utilizes the 4K HDR display, eye tracking, and 3D audio to make Resident Evil Village more realistic and intense than ever. Soak in the village’s richly detailed atmosphere in virtual reality, including the ornate chambers of Castle Dimitrescu, and prepare to feel genuinely dwarfed by the larger-than-life characters and creatures that lurk within.

Beyond stepping into the world of Resident Evil Village with the PlayStation VR2 headset, players will get to grips with their surroundings in new ways with the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers. These represent Ethan’s famously resilient hands and allow intuitive actions to be performed in-game. Players can hold up their arms to guard against enemies that get too close for comfort. Weapons also feel more realistic in VR Mode with new gameplay elements dial up the immersion, such as dual wielding and natural motion controls for reloading firearms and brandishing knives.”

Available on Steam, Meta Quest, and Rift since August 18, Altair Breaker (we won’t capitalize the game’s name) joins the opening titles, according to the PlayStation Blog: “Multiplayer sword-fighting action comes to PlayStation VR2 in the form of Altair Breaker. The AI-created virtual world Altair was once a beautiful archipelago covered by clouds. Now, surrounded by its collapsed brethren, a single floating island remains. Atop its ruins roam experimental combat, AI ruled over by a fully autonomous weapon Laws-Zero. Into this place of danger, you must journey and face these vicious creations up close. You are not ill-equipped, nor alone. Team up with up to three other players to tackle these killing machines together and explore the world. Glide through the air and climb walls as you wander the island, then enter into battle using full 360-degree movement and leveraging vertical spaces to your advantage. Perform aerial combos, AOE attacks, use special abilities, and more. Parry or block strikes with your shield, then slice your opponents in half with a perfectly timed sword swing.”

On the PlayStation Blog, Amata K.K.’s The Tale of Onogoro will also be included in the PlayStation VR2 launch line-up. A PlayStation VR port of this VR action-adventure game is also in the works for sometime this winter. The blog reads, “Amata K.K, creator of the escape adventure Last Labyrinth, returns with a new intriguing co-op tale. A VR player finds themselves thrust into an all-too-real parallel world where danger and mystery await. You’ll join forces with Hal, a shrine maiden who lives on the island of Onogoro. She’s not alone on the island: five giant, lethal Kami inhabit this isle. These raging beasts must be subdued, puzzles must be solved, and Arakida Masatake, the mastermind behind the mayhem, must be stopped. Teaming up is essential to your success. While you hold the legendary Celestial Weapon, capable of manipulating objects and firing Ki once absorbed, some riddles can be solved by Hal, and some only by you. Additionally, you share your health with Hal, making it all the more important for both of you to avoid injury. In tough situations, you can hold hands with Hal to heal, so be sure not to miss Hal’s call for help. Infusing traditional Japanese culture with steampunk elements, The Tale of Onogoro promises a unique world full of riddles and decisive battles.”

Finally, Cosmo Machia has announced that Fantavision, an action-puzzle genre game released for PS2 in 2000, is coming to PlayStation 5 as Fantavision 202X, and it has simple rules. It will offer an artistic combination of action, shooting, strategy, and puzzles in up to 4K resolution. The blog reads, “Originally released on the PlayStation 2 in 2000, Fantavision is a puzzle game based on the theme of fireworks. The game returns in an all-new title for PlayStation VR2 powered by the Unreal Engine. The game is an artistic combination of action, shooting, strategy, and puzzles. The PlayStation VR2 headset and PlayStation VR2 Sense controller provide an immersive experience to fill the star-studded sky with sparkling fireworks. With its simple yet addictive gameplay, it won’t take long for you to master the controls.

The fundamental goal of the game is to catch at least three fireworks of the same color and shoot them into the night sky. You can also catch fireworks of different colors simultaneously by using Wild Fireworks and shooting them with Daisy Chain, which combines multiple colors and collect items to start the bonus mode Starmine. On PlayStation VR2, you catch fireworks by aiming at them, pulling the trigger, and shooting them with the Circle button. In addition to the single-player mode, a replay mode is also available. You can change the camera’s viewpoint for incredible replays, stop time to enjoy the show, add different effects, and more. You can also experience the vibrations of the fireworks through haptic feedback, so you can fully absorb the breathtaking fireworks display.”

All four games will be available on PlayStation VR2 from February 22.
