It’s natural that Ueda is shrugging off his cards after the messy development of The Last Guardian to avoid giving fans a bad impression and getting them too excited about an upcoming announcement, but the fact is that it’s been 6 years since The Last Guardian came out. Therefore, we can be cautiously optimistic that Ueda and his team at GenDesign will be able to announce something next year, perhaps at the 2023 Tokyo Game Show in Chiba in September. In fact, many were hoping that GenDesign would make an announcement at the 2022 Tokyo Game Show, but that didn’t happen.

So far, GenDesign has been very secretive about what they’re working on, but we do know that Epic Games will be releasing it, and that it will be a completely new game that has nothing to do with Shadow of the Colossus or The Last Guardian – that last little thing isn’t surprising since Sony owns the rights to these titles.
