MOVIE NEWS – Anna Torv once starred in a PlayStation 3 exclusive game that is considered a true legend, and even played the main role in its film adaptation.
Anna Torv may have “stuck” the main role of Tess in The Last of Us series from Annie Wersching (who, among other things, showed how professional she is in similar live-action roles in the series 24, as a female FBI agent, so we could have expected Wersching in the HBO series series too), but Anna Torv is far from unfamiliar with the role of female PlayStation game heroes.
Specifically, it is about the PS3 game called Heavenly Sword, which was released in 2007. The fantasy story with a Far Eastern atmosphere is captivating and well-written, with strong dubbing voices of the actors, led by Anna Torv in the role of the female legendary martial artist and main character Nariko, and Andy Serkis, known for Gollam among others, was the main villain. The game’s combat system is fluid and satisfying, but it can feel repetitive at times. All in all, Heavenly Sword was a memorable experience that fans of action games should still play through if they can get their hands on a PS3. (Unfortunately, there is no PS5a in the form of PlayStation Premium
There was also a 2014 animated film adaptation of Heavenly Sword, which is also a visually stunning film that stays true to the spirit of the game while adding its own unique elements to it. Anna Torv reprises her lead role and gives a powerful performance. The action scenes are well-choreographed and exciting, but the pace of the film feels slow at times. Overall, fans of the game may enjoy the adaptation, but the wider non-gamer audience may not like it.
