TECH NEWS – Long battery life and decent computing performance at a relatively friendly price…
Dell usually updates its laptop lineup almost every year with the latest hardware from AMD and Intel. It has already launched its Core Ultra Series 2-based laptops and now it is “the turn of the reds”, meaning that AMD-based systems that can offer competitive AI performance at a low price are next. AMD’s top-of-the-line Strix Halo and Strix Point are already found in many premium laptops, so the lower-priced Krackan Point is a new addition.
Dell has unveiled its upgraded 14 Plus 2-in-1 laptops with AMD Ryzen AI 300 chips. These can deliver up to 50 NPU TOP AI performance. The laptop is known for its versatile design and can be used as a regular laptop or in tablet mode thanks to its 360-degree hinge. It features a 14″ touchscreen display with 1920x1200p resolution and 300 nits maximum brightness. Compact and lightweight, weighing only 1.59 kg. Equipped with either a 6-core/12-thread Ryzen AI 5 340 or 8-core/16-thread Ryzen AI 7 350 processor, it runs on the Zen 5 architecture for faster performance across all types of workloads. You’ll get a Radeon 840M or 860M graphics chip that can keep up with modern graphics workloads and even let you play games on your laptop.
Of course, the laptop will be sold in different configurations: memory will be 512 GB, 1 TB or 2 TB, but the memory will be 16 GB LPDDR5X 7500 MT/s onboard, so it cannot be expanded to more. Therefore, it will only be suitable for light to medium intensive tasks and will be best suited for office users, students or casual gamers, with an excellent battery life of up to 19 hours. It can compete with Lunar Lake-based laptops. There are fast ports on both sides of the device. USB-A, USB-C, HDMI 1.4, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4…
The question is how far the price will go in Europe.
