Awaken Realms to Release STALKER Board Game Based on GSC Game World’s Post-Apocalyptic Video Game

Fans of the popular STALKER video game will soon be able to experience the post-apocalyptic world in a new way, as board game studio Awaken Realms has partnered with GSC Game World to create Stalker: The Board Game. The game promises to capture the same atmospheric richness that fans of the video game expect.

Described as a cooperative “zone-crawling” game, Stalker: The Board Game is a story-driven experience based on the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Each story will consist of 2-4 scenarios to play through, and players can expect to spend approximately two hours per scenario. The game will be launched as a crowdfunding campaign on Gamefound, a popular platform in the board game industry, sometime this spring.

The game’s trailer features detailed pre-renders of game components like miniatures, cards, and tokens. The miniatures revealed so far include several Stalkers, a soldier, a gas-masked Snork, a tentacle-faced Bloodsucker, and a hulking Pseudogiant. Awaken Realms claims that the finished miniatures will be resin and highly detailed.

Awaken Realms is known for creating popular survival-horror board games, including Nemesis, which currently holds the 18th spot on Boardgamegeek’s ranking. The studio has a clear love for the genre and a proven track record of delivering fun games.

The Stalker universe is a popular post-apocalyptic sci-fi franchise set in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. In the video game series, players take on the role of Stalkers, scavengers who explore the Zone for valuable artifacts while avoiding deadly anomalies and hostile factions.

Stalker: The Board Game promises to offer fans of the series a chance to explore the Zone in a new way, with challenging scenarios and highly-detailed miniatures. The game is sure to be a hit with fans of both the video game series and board games in general.
