The highly anticipated Resident Evil 4 remake was recently released. Recently, an in-depth video compared how the game runs on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Both consoles have their pros and cons. The video essay provides excellent insight into what Resident Evil 4 fans can expect from the remake’s performance.

Capcom’s remake of the iconic Resident Evil series has been highly anticipated by many fans of the franchise since its announcement, with Resident Evil 4 being hailed by many fans as one of the best titles in the series.

Digital Foundry’s in-depth video shows how the Resident Evil 4 remake runs on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Let’s start with how the image quality varies between PS5, Series X and Series S. The visuals look sharper on the Series X. The resolution of the game running on the Series S seems less detailed than on the other two consoles. Although the RE 4 remake does an excellent job of telling its story, visual issues are noticeable on all three consoles.

In addition, Resident Evil 4 Series X runs at a reasonably stable 60 FPS when running at default settings when there isn’t much action on screen. But adding any visual options, such as ray-tracing, will significantly reduce frame rates. The PS5 also suffers from some significant frame rate drops. However, it maintains a consistent 60 FPS more often than the Series X.

The Series S performs worse than the other two consoles when you change anything on the default settings, so Digital Foundry recommends that Resident Evil 4 is best played on its original settings.

Despite these visual and performance issues, the RE 4 remake is an excellent game, thanks to other aspects of the horror title. In terms of performance, however, some gamers who are passionate about these details may be a little disappointed. But this will unlikely detract from the game’s great scares and action.
