New Sony Hardware Coming Before The PlayStation 5 Pro’s Launch?

Sony might be out of its mind if the rumors are true.

We’ve heard (and written) about the PlayStation 5 Pro before, and Sony is planning to push out a redesigned PlayStation 5 that won’t have a built-in Blu-ray drive as standard (to save on manufacturing costs) and that it can be connected separately. It is not the same as the PlayStation 5 Pro model. But that’s been twisted by Tom Henderson’s new coverage: according to the trusted leaker, there’s another Sony hardware on the horizon. However, it is something that hasn’t been mentioned before…

“I’ll be able to talk about it more in detail, but a new piece of Sony hardware will be released before the [PlayStation 5] Pro. I’m more likely to talk about it soon, so stay tuned. I can’t say anything more, it’s not an April Fools or anything like that, but there’s more hardware coming from Sony than what’s been reported. Should we expect a price drop of the base PlayStation 5 when this new Sony hardware drops? I don’t think so. I don’t think they’ll drop the price. When this new hardware gets announced, it will be fascinating to see what the competition thinks of it,” said Henderson, who said Sony might not be thinking about the PlayStation brand with the new device.

Henderson was also behind the earlier PlayStation 5 rumors (new Blu-ray-free model; PlayStation 5 Pro) and added that Sony is also working on PlayStation earbuds and will launch a new range of headsets. Of course, these are yet to be confirmed by the company, so everything that has been said so far cannot be considered official information, so it’s worth treating everything with caution.

So it’s not some PlayStation hardware. Then it may not be a console. New DualSense controller? They released the high-end Edge version of that. Different colors? It wouldn’t be such a rumor about that. Something similar to the PlayStation TV? Who knows…?
