Pedro Pascal to Star in Ridley Scott’s ‘Gladiator’ Sequel

MOVIE NEWS – Pedro Pascal, the star of the HBO series “The Last of Us”, will appear in the sequel of Ridley Scott’s film “Gladiator”, which will be presented by Paramount.

The original “Gladiator,” starring Russell Crowe, was released in 2000 and grossed more than $460 million worldwide. The film was nominated for 12 Academy Awards and won five, including Best Picture. The new film will serve as a continuation of the 2000 hit story and will pick up after the events of the previous film.

In addition to Pascal, the sequel will feature actors such as Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn, Connie Nielsen and Denzel Washington. The film’s director, Ridley Scott, is also returning, and he will be producing alongside Scott Free Production president Michael Pruss, and Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher representing Red Wagon Entertainment.

The script for the new film is written by David Scarpa, and the film is scheduled to hit theaters on November 22, 2024. Paramount Pictures plans to release the film on this date.

Pedro Pascal’s popularity has grown rapidly in recent years, after his role in the series “Game of Thrones” burst into the public consciousness. Since then, he has starred in successful series such as “The Last of Us” and “The Mandalorian” and has also appeared in several film roles.

Pascal will next appear opposite Ethan Hawke in Pedro Almodóvar’s short film “Strange Way of Life,” which will debut at the Cannes Film Festival and be released by Sony Pictures Classics this fall. He also had a role in Ethan Coen’s “Drive Away Dolls”, which is distributed by Focus Features and will be released in September 2023. Pascal also stars in Anna Boden’s “Freaky Tales,” which is expected to be released later this year.
