The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Fails to Address a Complaint From Breath of the Wild Fans!

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: a big disappointment for gamers that one thing hasn’t changed from Breath of the Wild!

Open-world Hyrule is home to a wide variety of creatures, ranging from monsters to friendly NPCs to different animals, including dogs. The same was true for its predecessor, Breath of the Wild. Unfortunately, Zelda: Breath of the Wild didn’t allow players to pet the dogs they encountered in the open world, so fans were hoping that this shortcoming would be fixed in Tears of the Kingdom. Now that Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been released to the masses, fans have realized that they still can’t pet dogs in the new game.

It takes players a few hours to reach the open-world Hyrule in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, where they’ll find dogs and various other animals, but it didn’t take long for fans to realize that they couldn’t pet the dogs. The Can You Pet the Dog Twitter account quickly confirmed this sad news.

It’s unclear why Nintendo still isn’t allowing players to pet dogs in Tears of the Kingdom, but at least there are other animals players can interact with in the game. As in Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom features wild horses that players can find, mount, and tame. Horses can make traversing the vast open world of Hyrule much faster and can be registered at the stables scattered throughout the map. So while players may not have the opportunity to fully interact with the dogs in the game, at least there are some animal bonding moments.

Although highly unlikely, it’s possible that Nintendo could update The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to allow players to pet dogs and have other interactions with animals in the game. Nintendo did release DLC expansions for Breath of the Wild that added substantial new content to that game, but it hasn’t revealed any plans to do the same for Tears of the Kingdom just yet. For now, Zelda fans will have to accept that they simply can’t pet the dogs in Tears of the Kingdom.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
