Critics Loved Evil Dead Rise, But Did It Become a Box Office Hit?

MOVIE NEWS – Evil Dead Rise made 10 times more than the original movie’s total box office earnings in its opening weekend. Horror fans loved Alyssa Sutherland’s performance in the bloody and funny sequel.

Evil Dead Rise is the fifth installment in the famous Evil Dead series, which returns to the screen after 10 years. The film introduces a new cast of characters who encounter evil forces in an abandoned skys craper. Alyssa Sutherland plays the protagonist, Jessica, who is a single mother of two children and tries to survive the nightmarish night.

The film premiered on April 21st in theaters and was a huge success. According to Deadline, Evil Dead Rise earned $23.5 million in its opening weekend, which is almost 10 times as much as the original film, The Evil Dead’s total revenue of $2.4 million. If adjusted for inflation, the first film would be worth about $8 million today, but Evil Dead Rise still far exceeds that amount. The difference shows how popular the Evil Dead franchise has become over the past decades.

The film was not only successful financially, but also critically. On Rotten Tomatoes, 82% of critics and 88% of the audience gave a positive rating to Evil Dead Rise. The film was praised for its spectacular action, humor and loyalty to the original series. Alyssa Sutherland’s performance also received recognition as a strong and sympathetic hero.

Evil Dead Rise was therefore a big hit in the horror genre, which breathed new life into the Evil Dead franchise. The question, however, is whether there will be a sequel? Bruce Campbell, the star and producer of the original series, said that if Evil Dead Rise is successful, they plan to make more films. He also said that they created an Evil Dead bible for future creators to keep a consistent direction. So there is hope that we will see more bloody and funny horror films in this series.
