The PlayStation 5’s Access Controller Got A Release Date [VIDEO]

Sony Interactive Entertainment has given a release date for its controller that offers easier handling and greater accessibility.

According to an announcement on PlayStation Blog, the Access controller will be available for preorder from July 21. Around here, it will be 90 euros (how interesting that there IS a ten euro difference in the price of games at our expense, yet the controller costs the same in dollars as in euros…), although Sony says that’s a SUGGESTED retail price. With the Access controller, you can customize the layout with different buttons and designs of buttons and analog stick caps. You can operate it in any 360° orientation and connect third-party accessories using the four standard 3.5mm expansion ports.

On the PlayStation 5, the Access controller has a range of settings that can be configured to suit your needs. You can assign buttons to create up to 30 control profiles, change the settings of the analog sticks, turn button commands on and off, or disable them altogether to prevent accidental presses. You can even pair two Access controllers and a DualSense to use them together.

“Starting Friday, July 21 at 10:00 a.m. local time, players in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal will be able to preorder the Access controller directly from PlayStation through PlayStation Direct, as well as from select retailers. Preorders will also be available through select retailers in other global markets on the same day. Thank you to the wonderful organizations, accessibility experts, and PlayStation Studios teams on this journey with us. We’re especially grateful to all the players who continually share their passion for our games and products. We truly believe gaming should be accessible to everyone, and the Access controller is our latest step toward living up to that promise,” Sony wrote.

The Access controller will launch on December 6.
