Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart: The PC System Requirements Have Arrived

Nixxes Software and Insomniac Games have also announced that it will be the first game to be DirectStorage 1.2 and will support GPU decompression!

Let’s start with the system requirements:

  • Minimum system requirements – 720p resolution, 30 FPS frame rate, with very low graphics settings:
  • Operating system: Windows 10 x64 (minimum version 1909)
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-8100 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 or better
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon RX 470 or better
  • Free storage: 75 GB (SSD recommended)

Recommended system requirements – 1080p resolution, 60 FPS frame rate, with medium graphics settings:

  • Operating system: Windows 10 x64 (minimum version 1909)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or better
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM

  • Free storage: 75 GB on SSD

High system requirements – 1440p resolution, 60 FPS or 4K, 30 FPS frame rate, with high graphics settings:

  • Operating system: Windows 10 x64 (minimum version 1909)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-11400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600 or better
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 6800 or better
  • Free storage: 75 GB on SSD

Amazing ray tracing (RT) system requirements – 1440p resolution, 60 FPS or 4K, 30 FPS frame rate, high graphics, and high RT settings:

  • Operating system: Windows 10 x64 (minimum version 1909)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-11600K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X or better

  • Free storage: 75 GB on SSD

In a deleted post on the ResetEra forum, it was revealed that the first DirectStorage 1.2 game will support GPU decompression. “DirectStorage ensures quick loading times, and GPU decompression is used at high graphics settings to stream assets in the background while playing. Traditionally, this decompression is handled by the CPU. Still, there is an advantage to letting the GPU handle this at a certain point, as this enables a higher bandwidth for streaming assets from storage to the graphics card. We use this to quickly load high-quality textures and environments with a high level of detail,” Richard van der Laan, senior lead programmer, said. “For Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on PC, we added adaptive streaming based on live measurement of the available hardware bandwidth. This allows us to tailor the texture streaming strategy for the best possible texture streaming on any configuration,” Alex Bartholomeus, principal programmer, added.

On the PlayStation 5, only reflections got ray tracing, but on PC, ambient occlusion and shadows can be rendered this way on sufficiently robust configurations. Nvidia DLSS 2 and 3, AMD FSR 2, and Intel XeSS upscaling technologies are also supported and recommended when ray tracing is used. Interestingly, it is not mandatory to use SSD on PCs, although it was hyped on PlayStation 5. Hmm.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be released for PC on July 26.
