Many People Played Bloodborne In July!

Even though the game was released more than eight years ago, FromSoftware’s title still captures the public’s attention today.

TrueTrophies tracked PlayStation Network data and found Bloodborne to be one of the most played games of the month on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. FromSoftware’s PS4-exclusive title was often available for free but managed to beat many recently released, higher-budget games for its time, so more people played Bloodborne than Crash Team Rumble, for example, and that was just a random game we named!

TrueTrophies has used gameplay data from 3.2 million active PlayStation Network accounts to create its top list. While this number doesn’t represent all active users, it does give an idea of what PlayStation players were interested in over the previous month. Some of the 2023 games listed that Bloodborne beat out in July include Dead Island 2, Monster Hunter Rise, Wo Long Fallen Dynasty, Exoprimal, Crash Team Rumble, Dead Space, Wild Hearts, Forspoken, Tchia, Like A Dragon Ishin, Atomic Heart, Humanity, Octopath Traveler 2, Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Collection, Meet Your Maker, or Horizon: Call of the Mountain.

For further context, Bloodborne attracted 20.32% more players than Dead Island 2, according to TrueTrophies. And compared to Capcom’s new dinosaur IP, Exoprimal, the difference is much more significant, 55.09%! According to the site’s data, FromSoftware’s game’s user base was barely behind Star Wars Jedi: Survivor or several other big games this year.

The problem is that Sony Interactive Entertainment doesn’t seem interested in Bloodborne. The company (especially since Jim Ryan’s leadership) tends to ignore its older IPs at a moment’s notice. Suffice it to say, what about Killzone? Sony has openly stated that they are building on blockbuster releases, which seems a bit tiresome. Therefore, the chances of a sequel happening are slim.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
