Twin Peaks Game Might Arrive Soon, But With A Twist!

Two indie developers decide to demake Twin Peaks with PS1 graphics and create an interesting game inspired by the famous cult TV series.

Two indie developers have just unveiled a demo of a Twin Peaks fan game that uses PS1 graphics to recreate the famous TV show. It was an often-mysterious TV series that inspired games such as Deadly Premonition, Alan Wake and others, so it’s no surprise that it’s become a fangame.

Twin Peaks originally ran in the early 90s and was directed by the famous David Lynch – one of the first modern TV classics that helped popularise the series.

It originally only lasted two seasons. It often used surrealist overtones to create a police detective drama. It made a comeback with an unexpected third season in 2017. Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting further stories set in this universe.

Now BlueRose Team, an indie game team of two French developers, has released a demo of Twin Peaks: Into the Night. The game is mostly a tribute to the TV series. It follows the official storyline with a few additions from the team. When trying out the demo, players will play the role of FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, investigating the death of Laura Palmer in the small town of Twin Peaks. The gameplay seems to be heavily inspired by old adventure games. There are also some puzzles that players must solve to progress. However, the aesthetics are spot on. Both Lynch’s style and the game graphics of the 90s are very well evoked by the recreation of a small Washington town.

The developers say they grew up on David Lynch’s influential work. The project can be downloaded by anyone and is completely free. For now, however, only a short demo is available.

Unfortunately, as you’d expect from a fan project, there is no clear timetable for when players will be able to play the full version of Twin Peaks: Into the Night, but it could be years before it is ready.

But this is not the first game in the franchise. Back in 2019, Twin Peaks VR was released as a free-to-play VR game that focused on puzzles set in multiple locations from the TV series. However, the title was not well received. It was often criticised for its graphics, style and uninteresting gameplay. So those looking to play something similar to this new fangame might be better off with something like Deadly Premonition.
