5+1 female Star Wars characters who can be role models for new generations

MOVIE NEWS – Star Wars is not only about the battles between the Rebels and the Empire or it’s about the Force. It is home to perhaps the most famous characters in pop culture, from Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader to Baby Yoda and Boba Fett to Han Solo. However, the Star Wars universe would not be complete without strong female personalities: Princess Leia, Padmé Amidala, Rey or Ahsoka, to name just a few. We have now gathered the female actors who rocked the galaxy far, far away with their presence, courage and daring.

George Lucas brought the unexpected in many ways in 1970 in A New Hope by casting Carrie Fisher as Leia gave her princess more action and weight than expected. She’s not just a princess in trouble waiting to be rescued, but someone who isn’t afraid to take up arms and fight for what she believes in. Lucas envisioned Leia as a Star Wars hero from the beginning, and the franchise has continued the strong female trend ever since. Even animated series such as “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars: Rebels” also feature female protagonists such as Ahsoka Tano, or Padmé Amidala in the prequel trilogy and Rey, who appears in the sequel. Of course, we had to draw the line when ranking, because if we included every woman in the huge database of Star Wars animated series, novels and comics, we would get a list that we would probably never be able to finish. But let’s see who we think had the biggest impact on the galaxy far, far away!

  1. Bo-Katan Kryze

Originally appeared as a supporting character in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, later returned in “Star Wars: Rebels”, then in the 2nd and 3rd seasons of “The Mandalorian”, where he clearly became an audience favorite. Despite being rejected and denied the rule of Mandalorian several times, he finally takes his rightful place on the throne in Season 3. As the last bearer of the Dark Sabre, no one is better suited than him to lead the Mandalorian people after the atrocities suffered by the Empire.

  1. Rey

Definitely one of the strongest characters in the sequel trilogy. Rey is the grandson of Emperor Palpatine, but her parents hid this from her. He lived on the planet Jakku before joining the Resistance and after discovering the Force, he was able to contact Kylo Ren, the presumed leader of the First Order. Eventually, they found Exegol together, where they discovered that Palpatine had once again returned to the galaxy. Rey constantly struggles with her destiny, what is right and what is wrong, and ultimately saves the entire galaxy. He may have taken the Skywalker name unfairly, but that doesn’t take anything away from the inspiring character we can’t wait to see back in the upcoming Jedi Order movie.

  1. Jyn Erso

The daughter of the scientist responsible for the creation of the first Death Star, Galen Erso, is an influential member of the Rebels. He was raised by freedom fighter Saw Gerrera, a hero of the resistance. In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, she led the mission to free her father from the Empire before it could complete its mission and deploy the Death Star. In one of the most daring robberies of the entire franchise, Jyn and a handful of her team broke into the base on Scarif, from where, in a long and bitter struggle, at the cost of their lives, they obtained the blueprints of the huge space weapon, which they delivered to the rebels.

  1. Padmé Amidala

One of the key figures in the universe, the mother of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. As Queen of Naboo and Senator of the Republic, she played an important role in the liberation of the planet and in the political events of the galaxy. Her relationship with Anakin Skywalker had a decisive influence on the course of the galaxy’s history, and although she warned of Palpatine’s rise to power, she was unable to prevent the destruction of the Jedi Order. His character was fleshed out in the prequel trilogy and Star Wars: The Clone Wars series. He also possessed outstanding political power and sense of style.

  1. Leia

We can safely say that there is no more inspiring female character than the first female character in the Star Wars universe, Leia Organa. Like her mother, she is incredibly diplomatic, a formidable warrior, and a great leader. She also paved the way for strong female characters in one of the world’s most successful franchises. Anakin Skywalker and Pamdé Amidala’s daughter was raised on Alderaan by Senator Bail Organa. As an adult, he helps the Rebellion defeat the Empire in the original trilogy, and returns as a general in the sequels to confront the First Order. Overall, Leia is by far one of the most important and well-developed female characters in Star Wars.

+1 Ahsoka

Ahsoka’s character first appeared 15 years ago in the 2008 animated film “Star Wars – The Clone Wars”. Anakin Skywalker’s young Togruta padawan is a brave, loyal and curious, but at the same time somewhat skeptical and grumpy character, who very quickly became an audience favorite and, incidentally, the franchise’s first female Jedi protagonist. The further development of his fate will be shown in the live-action series starting on August 23 on Disney+ starring Rosario Dawson.
