Bodies: A Revolutionary Time-Traveling Detective Sci-Fi Series on Netflix Where Past and Future Intertwine [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – As we’ve been awash with popular crime dramas and killer manhunts for years, something refreshingly original graces our screens. The Netflix original series, “Bodies,” promises nothing less than a mystery spanning across decades and borders. The show’s four main characters are all attempting to solve the same spine-chilling murder but in different periods.

Adapted from Si Spencer’s comic book, “Bodies” deals with a perplexing mystery that could very well fit into shows like “Dark” or “1899.” The narrative unfolds in four different timeframes: 1890, 1941, 2023, and 2053, each revealing the same enigmatic corpse. Although the characters live in distant times and places, they are all working on the same case and are, in one way or another, outsiders or unique.

The segments set in 1890 take place in Victorian London, featuring DI Hillinghead, played by Kyle Soller. In the World War II era, Polish-Jewish DS Whiteman, portrayed by Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, is engaged in a covert mission. This storyline draws inspiration from Orson Welles’ iconic film, “The Third Man.”

The episodes corresponding to the year 2023 introduce us to DS Hasan, played by Amaka Okafor, who stumbles upon the body while monitoring a far-right protest. This storyline doesn’t focus so much on the murder itself as it does on a mysterious young individual who leads Hasan to the corpse. The 2023 storyline takes cues from the British series “Line of Duty.”

Fast forward to 2053, the setting is a dystopian near-future London. Here, DC Maplewood, played by Shira Haas, confronts Elias Mannix, a leader in the dictatorial regime, played by Stephen Graham. Elias is a character that also appears in the 2023 storyline, giving us a glimpse of how his life evolves over time.

The series will premiere on Netflix on October 19, with the British sci-fi thriller helmed by Paul Tomalin, the creator of “Dark Side of Manchester”.
