Fate of ‘The Last of Us’ Multiplayer Title Finally Sealed? Shocking News Leaked!

A leaker has some bad news for those waiting for Last of Us multiplayer. A leaker has revealed the fate of The Last of Us multiplayer, and it’s bad news for those excited to dive back into the post-apocalyptic world.

A reliable leakster, known for revealing other big stories about The Last of Us franchise, has put the final nail in the coffin for fans who have been eagerly awaiting the multiplayer expansion of the series. Fans have been waiting for news about the multiplayer game set in The Last of Us universe since the release of the second part in 2020, and with rumors about the game’s possible fate, things are not looking good for fans.

Multiplayer modes are not a new concept in The Last of Us. The first game featured a multiplayer mode, Factions MP, which allowed players to relive the strategic and intense gameplay of the campaign in an online environment decades after the outbreak. When the sequel was released, fans expected a multiplayer mode, but instead Naughty Dog promised that a separate multiplayer-based game or expansion would be released at a later date. The Last of Us Part 2 sets up a multiplayer game in its story, introducing the player to all the possible factions that can emerge. There’s the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), the antagonistic group that controls Seattle; the Seraphites, a religious sect that worships a deceased prophet; the Rattlers, an intimidating biker gang; and, of course, the Fireflies, a militant group best known for their prominent role in the first game.

ViewerAnon, a well-known and trusted leaker, broke the bad news about a new Last of Us multiplayer game to Twitter user MHM. In the post, MHM responded to the news that lead monetization designer Anders Howard had left the company after 11 months by writing that fans should accept that multiplayer is likely to be missed, and that when it does come, it will be a pleasant surprise. ViewerAnon would end all hope with his Star Trek answer:

“That’s dead, Jim.”

ViewerAnon is the same leaker who revealed last December that The Last of Us Part 3 was in development and that Ellie’s voice actress, Ashley Johnson, would be playing Anna in the HBO adaptation. Recently, there have been many rumors surrounding the franchise, including a possible remaster of The Last of Us Part 2 for PS5.

Even if the multiplayer game never sees the light of day, fans can at least keep an eye on The Last of Us Part 3 rumors while they wait for a possible release. It’s also possible that Part 3 will have its own multiplayer mode.
