Nintendo Switch 2: Price and release date leaked?

Since we’re still about a year away from the launch of Nintendo’s new platform, it’s worth being skeptical about these details…

An insider named SoldierDelta posted the following on The Snitch’s, an insider’s Discord server. They had previously leaked images and information about Team Ninja’s game Rise of the Ronin. According to them, the codename for Nintendo’s new console is NG (since NX was used for the Switch, this doesn’t seem to be a fiction…) and the Japanese company has already set a date for when “the second Switch” will be available!

According to them, the successor to the Nintendo Switch will be released on September 24, 2024 (a Tuesday… the Switch was launched on a Friday), but November is not out of the question either, as a provisional placeholder date is also in the plans. There will be two variants of the console, a basic version for which Nintendo will charge $450, while the digital-only model (something like the Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition) will be available for $400.

We wrote this week about a job offer that could make the September launch a real possibility: “Marketing precedes the launch of new hardware, not in the middle of it (technically, yes, but with modified ads after the launch). The job offer is more about when marketing will be ramped up so that after the summer advertising rush, the successor to the Nintendo Switch can arrive in the fall. We could get our hands on the new hardware in September or possibly October. The Nintendo Switch Lite was also released in September, and the OLED model had an October release date… so both months sound realistic!

Of course (as with all Switch successor rumors), we must stress that this is not official information yet, and Nintendo may not reveal what’s coming after the successful Switch until spring.
