Publisher Private Division and Ori series developer Moon Studios have announced the action RPG No Rest for the Wicked for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC (Steam). The game will be released in Early Access for PC in the first quarter of 2024. A full release on all platforms will follow at a later date.

From Moon Studios, the award-winning developers of Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps comes No Rest for the Wicked, a visceral, precision action RPG that reinvents the genre.

According to the story, we write 841. King Harol is dead. As news of his death sweeps across the kingdom, the crown falls to his arrogant but untested son, Magnus. Worse, the Pestilence, an unholy plague not seen in a thousand years, has returned. It sweeps across the country, corrupting everything and everyone it touches. Madrigal Seline, a cruelly ambitious figure of the church, sees in the Pestilence the opportunity to prove herself before her god.

These forces meet on the backward island of Isola Sacra. Rebel groups and the provincial government fight for control among the crumbling ruins of the island.

The player plays one of the Cerims. He is a member of a group of mystical holy warriors. They were endowed with remarkable powers and who swore to defeat the Pestilence at any cost. However, the task turns out to be more and more challenging as we become involved in the misery of the people and the vast political struggle of the oppressed country. Chaos will pull you in every direction as you try to cleanse the land of evil and shape the kingdom’s destiny.

“We have been dreaming of being able to contribute to the action RPG genre that we all grew up with and love,” Moon Studios co-founder and creative director Thomas Mahler said in the press release.

“After the success of Ori, it was clear to us that Moon was now mature enough to finally realize those dreams. We can’t wait to see how players will react to this entirely new take on the genre!”

“For the past six years we’ve been hard at work on our dream passion project—a next-level action RPG, fueled by our love and ambition for tight gameplay mechanics and world building,” said Moon Studios co-founder and technology and production director Gennadiy Korol. “We are excited to reveal our own take on what we’ve always envisioned as the core canons of the action RPG genre, while taking the next steps to reimagine the elements we consider ripe for innovation.”

“The wildly-talented team at Moon Studios has a proven track record of outstanding releases with a truly unique art style,” said Take-Two Interactive chief strategy officer and head of Private Division Michael Worosz. “Bringing a game like Wicked to the world is exactly the reason why we founded Private Division, and I can’t wait for gamers to experience what Moon has created.”

More information will be announced at the digital premiere of “Wicked Inside” on March 1, 2024.
