A Multiplayer Horror Game Becomes Free-To-Play! [VIDEO]

It will also soon be available on consoles, but not all of them.

A recent title, Deceit II, has been available on PC since September 14 for $10, but the game’s developer World Makers has announced that it will be free to play on PC and will also be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on April 3. The previously planned PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are still in the works.

World Makers CEO James Thompson wrote in a press release, “It wasn’t an easy decision to move to a free-to-play model, but we believe it’s the right decision to lower the barrier to entry and ensure that more people can enjoy Deceit II. For those players who purchased the game prior to the free-to-play relaunch, we’re offering the Werewolf downloadable content, three Crypt Keys, in-game currency, and a Season One Pass for free to show our appreciation for their early and continued support.

Deceit II is a social deduction horror game where two of you have been infected. While the infected do the bidding of the malevolent Game Master, the innocent must work together to escape the ritual and deduce who is plotting against them. Suspect someone? Gather your team to initiate the banishing ritual. To add to the chaos, you can now play as a third team, the Cursed, who are out for themselves. When it’s time to banish someone, choose wisely; a false accusation can sow seeds of doubt and turn allies into enemies. Your choices shape the game, making each match a unique battle of wits. Can you outwit the Game Master and escape the ritual, or will you become another pawn in his twisted game?

The Werewolf downloadable content includes the Wyrtorn Terror, a werewolf and the first Terror to be added since the game’s launch. It will also include the Chemist role, a neutral curse that must poison all other party members to win the ritual. A new map, Project Wurgen, will also be available, set in a corrupt facility that witnessed many of the inhumane animal experiments that led to the creation of the Wyrtorn. This new location will be available to all players for free, so you can party with anyone, whether they own the expansion or not.

The new free-to-play era of Deceit II also introduces Seasons, events that will bring many new unlockables to reward playtime. The Pre-Season is now live in-game, and Season One, titled “Humble Beginnings,” will launch on April 3, adding skins, loading screens, and more. The first batch of rewards will be released at the start of the event, with the rest to follow shortly thereafter. Also, keep an eye out for an Easter-themed event coming soon! New seasons are planned every two months, giving you even more reasons to return to the terror!

A free game is never a bad idea.
