Stellar Blade: You Won’t Beat It In One Weekend!

Shift Up (which is looking for more people to work on a third project; it was in the news the other day) has revealed how long it will take to play through, and there’s little reason to fear that Stellar Blade will follow the example of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Stellar Blade director Kim Hyeong-tae and technical director Lee Dong-gi were recently interviewed by several Asian publications, giving us more details about Stellar Blade, which has had a demo on the PlayStation Store for a few days now. A playthrough takes about 25 hours (if you only complete the main missions), so you won’t be able to finish it in 2-3 days unless you dedicate eight hours a day to playing Shift Up’s title.

However, if you complete all the side missions and collectibles, it’s at least 30 hours, but you can spend up to 50 hours on Stellar Blade. After completing the game, the hard difficulty will be unlocked, but there will be no New Game+ at launch, although the developers hint that they will have NG+ in their game later on. But what about monetization? No microtransactions are planned, except for crossover content (mainly costumes). It hasn’t been decided yet if there will be any major DLC, but free updates and new costumes, which you can regularly see in other games published by Sony, will also be present.

“The release of DLC has not been determined, but free updates such as additional costumes are being prepared. We would like to make it clear that Stellar Blade will not require any additional costs that players will not be aware of, other than the cost of purchasing the package. The only exception is if you create a collaborative costume with another company’s IP, that amount can be sold for a fee,” Shift Up said.

Several Japanese developers are interested in Stellar Blade, which will be released on PlayStation 5 on April 26. For example, NieR creator Yoko Taro is tracking the game, and Hideo Kojima recently met with Kim Hyeong-tae. 2B in Stellar Blade? Seems reasonable…
