Final Fantasy VII Rebirth: Square Enix Will Fix The Platinum Trophy-Blocking Bug!

The Japanese publisher has admitted that one of the side quests has indeed become buggy thanks to one of the RPG’s updates, and since it’s causing some uncomfortable moments for perfectionist gamers, the bug will be fixed soon.

We recently reported that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is currently only able to drop the Platinum Trophy for those who bought the game on disc (that’s two Blu-ray Discs), as it turns out that a patch released since launch has broken one of the side missions. It’s called Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop, and it affects the high score in the G-Bike Motorcycle Arcade Simulator. This bug currently affects the score itself. It doesn’t register our score correctly, so we can’t beat the record we’ve set, and because the side quest requires a certain score to complete, the Platinum Trophy is also currently unobtainable for those who have purchased the second act of the Final Fantasy VII Remake Project from the PlayStation Store, that is, digitally.

You would think that Square Enix would get some developers to fix the bug soon, right? Wrong. It’s been a week since we wrote about the bug, so it’s been almost a week and a half since Final Fantasy VII Rebirth might have the bug, and since this is considered one of the Japanese publisher’s big caliber games, it’s a bit strange that Square Enix only got around to tweeting about it on April 4th! This was both an acknowledgement of the bug and an admission that they’re a bit lazy about it.

“We are aware of a problem that stops progress in the “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop” sidequest. This will be fixed in the next patch. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you for your patience and support while we work to resolve this issue,” Square Enix wrote.

If you remember, Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop appears in Chapter 12 of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, near the end of the game. If you’re not there yet and need the Platinum Trophy, give the game a rest.
