TECH NEWS – The AR headset was only in demand in the early days, so Apple’s product is not selling so well at the moment, although it should be added that the revolutionary headset (even for use in surgery) is not cheap.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says that Apple’s Vision Pro has been on a trajectory similar to many of its doomed products over the past three months. Something is coming. It’s not cheap. But it sells. Time passes. Interest wanes. Unsold stock. That’s what happened to Apple’s AR headset the day it was released, as the number of demo requests dropped and sales plummeted…
“Demand for demos is way down. People who make appointments often don’t show up, and sales – at least in some locations – have gone from a couple of units a day to a handful in a whole week. Apple has also had to step up the marketing on its online home page. There’s a huge promo for the Vision Pro at the top of the site,” Gurman wrote. This does not inspire confidence. That is why Apple needs to act. If the Cupertino company wants a larger user base, it will have to launch a cheaper model, as it is hard to see it lowering the price of the Apple Vision Pro (which is $3,500 by default, and the European version has not even been announced yet; the company will charge even more for it here). The VR market has not expanded much recently, which makes Apple’s task all the more difficult.
Gurman shared his experience with the device. He rarely uses it for work, and even for consuming media content, he doesn’t use the Apple Vision Pro much. Connecting the battery, booting the device, and navigating the interface are all cumbersome, especially when compared to a laptop or tablet.
This year, Apple plans to produce 400,000 units because of production problems. Will they all sell out?
