XDefiant: More Ubisoft IPs Coming to the Free-To-Play Game Later?

There are already a few franchises that the French publisher has packed into XDefiant (whose development took precedence over the completion of Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland), but this is something that the Yves Guillemot-led company will continue to do in the future.

On Twitter, Rogue TX shared what he found in the game’s files. He believes that the four factions could be from Assassin’s Creed, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Rainbow Six Siege and Far Cry: New Dawn. Assassins, Operatives, GSG9 and The Highwaymen could find their way into XDefiant, which could continue Ubisoft’s crossover approach. But there are two other franchises that are much bigger surprises.

In fact, Assassin’s Creed is a minor exception, as it is something of a historical franchise, but Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Rainbow Six Siege and Far Cry: New Dawn are shooters, so their use would fit in XDefiant. However, a racing IP (!?) and a platformer (!!!) will also be brought over, as Rogue TX says that The Crew and Rabbids could also appear in the French publisher’s free-to-play product…

We also found out that Team Deathmatch (the team with the most kills wins; this has been known since Quake), Capture the Flag (capture the flag and bring it back to your base; this may also be known from Quake or Unreal Tournament) and Infection (the goal is to infect all players in a given time and not let the others knock you out). Weapons will include the G36, the FAL, the FAMAS, the 1930’s Thompson machine gun, a shotgun, a turret, and an RC car.

XDefiant is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox and PC. Ubisoft’s game is off to a good start, so it’s no wonder the French publisher is focusing so much on it.
