Starship Troopers: Extermination: Bug Extermination at its Best? [VIDEO]

My.Games’ new publishing arm, Knights Peak, will bring Offworld Industries’ first-person shooter to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC, as well as a physical edition on console.

Casper Van Dien, star of the original 1997 Starship Troopers movie, will return as his iconic character Johnny Rico in Starship Troopers: Extermination, commanding players in a new single-player game mode included in the 1.0 launch, along with new enemies, locations, and more! The new game mode focuses entirely on the single-player experience, offering 25 different missions and a variety of player-versus-enemy combat scenarios across multiple environments, with a second chapter to follow after launch. Selected for an elite Spec Ops group within the Mobile Infantry, players will follow the orders of living legend General John “Johnny” Rico, proving their mettle against hordes of enemy Arachnids with the help of three original NPC allies to prove themselves worthy of recruitment.

The Early Access version of Starship Troopers: Extermination is currently available for $30, but will cost $50 at launch. It puts players on the front lines of an all-out war against the Arachnid menace. Work together to complete objectives, acquire resources, build and defend your base of operations, and then escape together to the extraction point. The battle will be intense. Take up arms as one of six unique classes: Sniper, Ranger, Demolisher, Guardian, Engineer and Medic.

The exciting new update, Carnage on Planet X-11 (coming in late June), brings immersive and sustained carnage to the Starship Troopers battlefield: Extermination. Prepare for an intense experience as the war against the bugs escalates to unprecedented levels. Carnage is the latest innovation from the developers, allowing an (almost) infinite number of bug corpses to remain scattered across the battlefield, disappearing only when you choose to exterminate them. Blood decals will now permanently stain many areas of the map, providing a visceral reminder of the intense conflicts that have taken place. They believe this will give Carnage a more realistic and immersive feel. Seeing the aftermath of your skirmishes gives you tangible evidence of your impact in the ongoing war against the arachnid menace. As you watch the carnage unfold, you’ll see that this feature is more than just a visual enhancement. Bug corpses now have full body collision, creating new paths and obstacles. The living bugs dynamically update their navigation, allowing the arachnids to reach previously inaccessible areas.

The carnage system introduces a groundbreaking feature that leaves bug corpses in the world, creating a realistic and chaotic battlefield. Players can climb on top of the bug piles to gain superior vantage points over their enemies. The persistent damage and carnage provide a more authentic representation of the brutal war against the arachnids. Planet X-11 is a new location deep within the Tibannis system, within the Arachnid Quarantine Zone. Located within the rings of a gas giant, Planet X-11 is shrouded in mystery and danger. Defend the crucial Teefang Array, the Federation’s most important listening post, essential to the Federation’s operations against the bugs! Experience a mix of indoor and outdoor combat, a first for Starship Troopers, allowing for varied and dynamic battle scenarios. Bugs are now armored, adding a new layer of strategy to combat. Learn and exploit the weaknesses of bugs to take them down more efficiently with the right weapons, adding depth and nuance to gunplay.

Starship Troopers: Extermination, a co-op first-person shooter, is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox One and PC on October 11.
