Fallout: Nuevo Mexico: Sad News From The People Behind The Long-Awaited Mod!

Fallout: Nuevo Mexico’s development update broke fans’ hearts…

A few minutes of silent tribute isn’t nearly long enough to capture the sense of loss Fallout fans are feeling right now. If you thought it was heartbreaking to receive such a disappointing update for the Fallout 3 remake, then this news will completely blow your mind.

Back in March, attention was drawn to Fallout: Nuevo Mexico, a massive expansion that plays like an entirely new game.

The fans were excited, and so were we. Then, the worst happened: the lead developer stepped back from the project.

Fallout: Nuevo Mexico could have brought something wonderful

There were many signs that something was wrong. Because the mod’s YouTube channel suddenly lost most of its content. Discord channels have also mysteriously disappeared.

On Reddit, fans flocked to ask “what happened to Fallout: Nuevo Mexico?”.

The only response they got was from someone claiming to be one of the voice actors; he said: “As someone who was a part of the team as a VA, no clue. Everything just sorta disappeared overnight.”

However, we finally got answers. As reported by VG247, the developers have broken their silence to reveal that the project was halted because an invaluable member decided to “step back”.

“I wanted to share an update about [Nuevo Mexico project lead] Zapshock and the mod project Fallout: Nuevo México,” the announcement reads.

“The project has been on hold for some time, and Zapshock has decided to step back from active participation in the community. For now, Zapshock won’t be available on Discord or any social media platforms.”

Nowhere in this Discord post does it say that the project has been shut down. However, while the rest of the team is still there, we have no idea what state the expansion is in.

Given how sudden this departure was, it’s understandable that the team is struggling to find their footing as they try to move on. We’re hoping the work stoppage won’t last much longer, but now that we’ve heard about this dramatic behind-the-scenes change, we’re quietly getting our hopes up…
