Josh Hartnett Reveals His Most Embarrassing Scene in Pearl Harbor – It’s Hilarious How Awkward It Was! [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – Josh Hartnett revealed that one of the most embarrassing moments of his career can be seen in Pearl Harbor. He explained why, and we felt the secondhand embarrassment too! This must have been truly awkward.

Michael Bay is known for his explosive and bombastic action scenes but often lacks strong, well-developed stories and characters. Pearl Harbor is a prime example of this: the aerial attack is visually stunning, but critics slammed the film for its imbalances, earning it both Oscar and Golden Raspberry nominations. Josh Hartnett, one of the film’s leads, doesn’t look back on this war romance fondly, especially since it features one of the most awkward scenes of his career: the love scene shot in the presence of Kate Beckinsale’s partner and child.

Hartnett discussed this while promoting his latest thriller, The Trap, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, in an interview with Elle. In the video below, starting at 0:13, he answers the question about his most embarrassing on-set experience. The actor recalls the cringeworthy moment with these words:

One of the most embarrassing moments was the parachute scene in Pearl Harbor with Kate Beckinsale, where we somehow end up making love among the parachutes. That day, she decided to bring her one-year-old daughter and boyfriend to the set – for the first time. I felt awful all day. It was incredibly humiliating for me. Thanks, Kate!

In 1999, Beckinsale had a daughter, Lily Mo Sheen, with her then-partner Michael Sheen. In Pearl Harbor, she played Evelyn Johnson, a nurse who is romantically involved with both Ben Affleck’s and Hartnett’s characters, creating a love triangle that Bay used to build tension among the characters. Critics panned this aspect, criticizing the romance as clichéd and poorly executed. Despite the critical backlash, audiences enjoyed Bay’s war film more, as reflected in its A- CinemaScore and impressive $449.2 million worldwide gross (on a $140 million budget).

Bay is currently working on a bizarre project involving human-headed urinals (among other things).
