Firaxis Games has introduced Civilization VII, which is full of new features…
It is fascinating that we can finally see the first gameplay trailer of the long-awaited Civilization VII! Almost eight years after the release of its predecessor, Firaxis Games presented the game at Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live, focusing on some big news. They also revealed the release date – you don’t have to wait long!
The creators of the latest X-COM and Midnight Suns have confirmed that the new episode of the Civi-saga will be released on February 11, 2025, for PC and consoles.
And early access for some special editions of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII starts on February 6.
The big promises of Civilization VII
The new episode of the Civilization series promises even more freedom of action and customization as we bring a unique civilization to life. According to Firaxis, each era of the new game presents “a richly nuanced journey with unique playable civilizations, resources, areas to explore, and even entire game systems” to make each time jump forward feel completely unique.
As always i,n Civi, we can develop our empire by focusing on science, culture, miand litary or economic domination. We must complete these objectives in order to jump eras. There’s also a new concept that defines the entire action in Civi VII, and that’s the ‘test of time’, which is how a civilization changes and grows over the centuries. “Forge your own luck in history at the beginning of each era, choosing from a range of new civilization options based on your achievements in the game.”
As for the leaders and civilizations we can control, only a few have been revealed so far. Firaxis promises that we will have “the most diverse selection of managers in history”. Each character has unique abilities and can be upgraded throughout the game (like in an RPG) to customize their attributes. However, the most striking thing is that for the first time in the history of the series, we can choose a leader and a civilization separately, so we can create exciting combinations.
In addition to the gameplay, the looks also change
Of course, Civi VII will also feature multiplayer, where you can compete with other users from around the world, as well as other classic features of the series, such as diplomacy, trade, and of course, a detailed map that you can explore freely in search of raw materials, natural wonders, and other surprises. At this point, the new graphical look of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is sure to stand out, replacing the “Pixar-esque” style of Civi VI with the more realistic (yet colourful) tone of the previous instalments.
We will soon report more on the new features of Firaxis Games’ new game. The game could be one of the highlights of Gamescom 2024 and, of course, one of the most anticipated titles of next year…
