MOVIE NEWS – Reacher remains one of Prime Video’s biggest action thrillers, but Alan Ritchson’s series has now suffered an unexpected setback on the streamer’s weekly charts. Season 4 is already in post-production, yet Amazon still has not announced when Jack Reacher will return.
Reacher is one of Prime Video’s biggest and best action thrillers, but before the show’s fourth season can be released, the hit series has suffered an unexpected setback on streaming. It is far from the only major series on Prime Video: The Boys, which recently released its final season, Fallout, Invincible, Citadel, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, and the newly released Spider-Noir are all strong action-driven titles on the platform. Alan Ritchson’s Reacher, however, has undeniably become one of the streamer’s most iconic and rewatchable shows, which makes its 2026 chart performance especially noticeable.
With the final season of The Boys, the debut of Spider-Noir, and Prime Video’s new R-rated drama Off Campus, there is a lot of competition on the service right now. Unfortunately for Jack Reacher, even a muscle-bound action hero cannot fight off a raunchy university drama, evil superheroes, and a grungy Spider-Man all at once. With those new shows arriving, Reacher has officially been knocked out of Prime Video’s weekly Top 10 streaming charts, losing its position on both the U.S. and global lists. It would be easy to argue that this is because the previous season was released back in February 2025, but the show had fought hard to maintain a Top 10 spot since then, and only recently lost that battle.
For anyone who still has not watched Reacher, the series is based on Lee Child’s novels. Unlike the Tom Cruise-led movies, which took far greater liberties with the source material, the Prime Video series mostly does a solid job of adapting one book per season. Some plotlines have been reshaped to fit the television format, but one thing is difficult to dispute: Alan Ritchson was born to play Reacher.
Reacher Cemented Alan Ritchson as an Action Icon
Alan Ritchson has always had an athletic physique and a strong screen presence. His cult comedy Blue Mountain State saw him play a star linebacker with a very fragile sense of masculinity, and he even played one of DC Comics’ most frequently mocked superheroes, Aquaman, in Smallville. Reacher, however, pushed him onto a different level entirely. It was the role that truly put him on the map as an action star. Since leading Prime Video’s series, Ritchson has gone on to appear in the Fast & Furious franchise, Netflix’s War Machine, Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, and the underrated action thriller Motor City.
Reacher Will Return for Season 4
It should come as no surprise that Prime Video renewed Reacher for a fourth season. In fact, the new season has already wrapped shooting and is now in post-production, although Amazon has not yet announced when the series will return to screens. The new season will primarily draw from Lee Child’s 2009 novel Gone Tomorrow, in which Reacher is pulled into a sprawling conspiracy in New York City, beginning with a falsely identified terrorist threat before expanding into something much larger and more dangerous.
