iPhone 17 Air: A Longer Battery Life but with Compromises?

TECH NEWS – Now we’re hearing about the slim iPhone that will be priced similarly to the devices already on sale… but there will be compromises.

The iPhone 17 Air will be the thinnest of the new smartphones made by the Cupertino-based company, and the latest pricing information suggests the tech giant could effectively replace the iPhone 17 Plus with this model. It will be slim, but that form factor may mean that Apple will have to make some compromises, but the positive trade-off will be that this phone will reportedly boast surprisingly satisfactory battery life, so it won’t run out of juice in moments.

Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman didn’t mention the exact battery capacity in the Power On newsletter, but MacRumors reports that we were able to get an estimate from the vendor. According to the site, the iPhone 17 Air will start at $900, which is the same price as the base iPhone 16 Plus model. There’s no mention of whether the iPhone 17 Air will replace the iPhone 17 Plus, but we haven’t heard much about the Plus model, so it’s possible that it will be the second of four models, but some features will be left out…

For example, it may not have an ultra-wide angle camera, but it will have more room for a bigger battery (something we saw in the iPhone 16e). It’s likely that the in-house C1 5G modem will be used again, and since the baseband chip is being mass-produced on TSMC’s 4nm process, it should be efficient enough to give the device longer battery life. According to Gurman, the durability of the iPhone 17 Air will be on par with current iPhones. Too bad he didn’t specify which model. If it’s the base model, it could convince buyers to buy the more expensive device. Various software tweaks are being implemented that should improve battery life, and with Apple’s A19 chip reportedly being mass-produced on TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process, the iPhone 17 Air could be a decent device.

But these are all just rumors.
