Ubisoft Confirms Fan-Requested Features Are Coming to Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Including Auto Horse Travel

Ubisoft has listened: Assassin’s Creed Shadows will soon receive automatic horseback riding and several new improvements via an upcoming patch focused on fixes and gameplay refinements.

Ubisoft is continuing to fine-tune Assassin’s Creed Shadows with a post-launch update that brings long-requested features to the game. One of the most anticipated additions since the title launched on March 20 is finally arriving: an automatic horse travel system that lets players soak in the game’s scenery while their mount heads toward the next destination on its own. This and other new quality-of-life additions aim to enhance the overall experience featuring protagonists Naoe and Yasuke.

According to Ubisoft’s official website, this will be the game’s “first major update” and will include a series of bug fixes and gameplay improvements. The patch is set to launch on April 9 and will differ in file size by platform: 19.5 GB on Xbox Series X|S, 11.59 GB on PS5, 16.05 GB on PC, 11 GB on Steam, and 9 GB on Mac. The headlining addition, the automatic horse feature, also includes an improved traversal speed in urban environments, making movement feel more fluid across the board.

Gameplay tweaks, UI shortcuts, and PS5 Pro enhancements

The patch also includes mastery node resets, letting players experiment with different build paths for both main characters. Players can now sell or dismantle multiple items at shops or forges in a single action, and a new shortcut has been added to access the research board by holding the Options button for a few seconds. In addition, the update brings changes to game balance, improves the Photo Mode, enhances double kills, and adds other minor improvements.

PS5 Pro users are also getting some love: the patch includes support for PSSR (PlayStation Super Resolution). Those who’ve already played the game on Sony’s upgraded console will need to manually enable this feature, which boosts the game’s visuals during Naoe and Yasuke’s journey.

Lastly, Ubisoft has revealed that it’s considering the addition of a harder difficulty mode to Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This setting would increase enemy aggression and reduce reaction windows, although it has not yet been confirmed for release.
