According to Deadline, Barantini pitched a much darker direction for the third movie, with sources stating he wants it to “do for the Enola Holmes franchise what Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban did for the Harry Potter series.”

The script is being written by Jack Thorne, who also penned the first two Enola Holmes films and has credits including Wonder and the upcoming Tron: Ares. Thorne previously collaborated with Barantini on Adolescence and is currently working on a small screen adaptation of Lord of the Flies.

Netflix has not yet announced an official release date for Enola Holmes 3, but filming began on April 10, 2025, in England and Malta.
