Asus ROG Ally 2: You Can Now See the Xbox Branding on Pictures!

HANDHELD NEWS – Asus can no longer deny that it is indeed the company that makes one of Microsoft’s handhelds…

We first heard about an Xbox handheld a few months ago, and now we can see pictures of Project Kennan, which looks like a version of the Asus ROG Ally 2. We’ve already seen several things emerge about the device: an Indonesian DSPPI Postel certificate, a Korean RRA certificate, and now images have surfaced on Twitter that purport to be of a leaked FCC certificate that has to do with Wi-Fi modules. The certificates use the model names RC73XA and RC73YA (probably due to color variations).

The black version of the handheld PC has a button with the Xbox logo in the upper left corner. The white version has the same button, but the logo seems to be completely covered. On the black version, the button also looks like it has been blacked out a bit. This suggests that one of these ROG Ally 2 variants may not be released with the Xbox branding (or that they simply had to cover it up for legal reasons). However, the fact that the button is there at all suggests that there will be a variant with Xbox branding.

The A, B, X, and Y buttons on the white version are clearly Xbox-colored. The whole thing looks like a screen slapped in the middle of an oversized Xbox controller, similar to the Playstation Portal. Project Kennan was first reported by Windows Central, which named a major PC manufacturer as the manufacturer, complete with an official Xbox Guide button and an Xbox design sense. If these FCC photos are real and show what the Kennan will actually look like, then the design sensibility of Asus and Microsoft is a bit odd. It’s like a Nintendo 64 controller.

Computex is coming up soon (it’s at the end of the month), so it’s almost certain that Asus will officially unveil the device there.
