A new event has been added to Arrowhead Game Studios’ live service game called Galactic Emergency.
In a surprising twist even our top researchers failed to predict, the Illuminate have finally made their move, emerging from the Meridian Singularity and setting their sights on Super Earth. Now more than ever, it’s crucial to unite and stop them before they shatter our freedom. The threat posed by the Illuminate has grown significantly, releasing terrifying new horrors upon citizens across the galaxy. Reports confirm that larger, more powerful enemies have been deployed within the fleet, including the Stingray: jet-powered aircraft delivering air support for the Illuminate, targeting Helldivers and executing devastating strafing runs. Another new threat is the Crescent Overseer, which can fire volleys at Helldivers taking cover.
Perhaps most terrifying of all are reports of a failed Illuminate experiment dubbed the Fleshmob: a Frankenstein-like monstrosity composed of Voteless parts, turned into a brutal force on the battlefield that is no easy task to eliminate. Sightings of other, even larger ships have been recorded, though their full capabilities remain unknown. We must not underestimate these squid-like foes—so we’re rallying our smartest and most elite to drive them back into the void where they belong. All resources must be mobilized to face this menace, and thankfully, Super Earth’s research and development team has unlocked new tools for our Helldivers, hoping they’ll crush this onslaught of Illuminate invaders.
Helldivers now gain access to an extensive new weapon customization feature across most primary weapons. Nearly all primaries now include upgradeable levels that unlock new attachments as missions are completed. These attachments can be obtained via requisition, and players can also unlock patterns for visual customization. Whether it’s fine-tuning scopes for precision, adjusting color schemes, enhancing ammo capacity through magazine upgrades, optimizing performance with muzzle tweaks, or refining control with under-barrel attachments—your weapon’s effectiveness on the battlefield is in your hands. This level of personalization ensures your favorite primary weapon becomes best-in-class.
Developers have also deployed new patterns to the FRV themed around the Viper Commandos, Freedom’s Flame, Chemical Agents, and Truth Enforcers Warbonds. These designs will help squads stand out and improve coordination and battlefield synergy. This long-awaited bundle of patterns will be available starting May 15 with the launch of the Masters of Ceremony Warbond. Super Soldiers are also receiving an emergency Superstore upgrade to turbocharge their loadouts. No more waiting for item rotations—desired gear will now always be available, ready to restock your arsenal and equip your Helldivers with gear you may have missed previously.
At the moment, this is Sony’s only successful live service title… which says a lot about how distant the company remains from mastering this model.
