The Chinese studio’s action RPG is finally heading to Xbox Series consoles—one full year after its PlayStation 5 and PC debut, sparking renewed speculation about a possible exclusivity deal with Sony.
Black Myth: Wukong originally launched on August 20, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store). The Xbox Series version will arrive exactly a year later—on August 20, 2025—with pre-orders going live on June 18. Game Science had remained tight-lipped about the Xbox version until now, which strongly implies that Sony may have locked in a timed exclusivity agreement with the Chinese developers.
Dear Destined Ones,
The summer sale is almost here, and hey—we’re jumping in too. Nothing too big, just two quick things:

Rumors have long suggested that technical challenges—particularly performance issues and memory leaks—held back the Xbox version, especially for the less powerful Xbox Series S. But with the port now confirmed, it raises the question: were those problems ever real, or just a smokescreen to hide a lucrative deal with Sony?
This wouldn’t be the first time. Developers previously admitted to exclusivity arrangements, like with Silent Hill 2 Remake, which debuted on PS5 and PC in October 2024 and is expected to hit Xbox consoles one year later—on October 8, 2025.
Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG steeped in Chinese mythology and inspired by Journey to the West, one of China’s Four Great Classical Novels. Players take on the role of the Destined One, facing legendary foes and unraveling truths hidden beneath a mythic legacy. Starting August 20, Xbox players will finally join the adventure—though all eyes will be on the game’s technical performance.
