MindsEye has turned into a full-blown disaster, and now even PlayStation admits there are “issues”—offering refunds to frustrated customers. Build a Rocket Boy has shared a detailed roadmap for upcoming patches, but the game’s reputation may be beyond repair.
Controversy is swirling around Build a Rocket Boy. Since the launch of MindsEye, players have faced a mess of graphical glitches and performance failures. Paid streamers have openly laughed at the chaos, as viral clips and gameplay snippets showcase the game’s endless parade of bugs. It’s gotten so bad that PlayStation is now refunding the game for some users.
The Gamer spotted several posts from players claiming they’d received refunds for MindsEye after reaching out to PlayStation support. One, MasterOfMoogles1995, shared a Reddit screenshot of a chat with Sony’s customer service: “The game was promoted in the official PlayStation launch trailer as running at 60 FPS and Pro Enhanced, but this isn’t true.” The response: “You are correct regarding the optimization of this game. The situation is being investigated, but in the meantime, we’ll process your refund request.”
Content creator WolfgangMishima experienced the same, sharing an X screenshot of PlayStation support saying: “I checked to see if a refund was possible and I have good news! Usually, PlayStation Store policies prevent refunds for downloaded games, but since you’ve encountered issues and requested support, we’ll make an exception as a gesture of good faith.” The user even posted a picture of the transaction.
MindsEye Details Its Patch Roadmap
Build a Rocket Boy has already acknowledged the problems and is rolling out updates. The first patch arrives this week; next week brings a hotfix focused on stability and performance, plus bug fixes, and another update lands at the end of June—with AI upgrades, animation tweaks, Hard mode rebalancing, and more. Time will tell if the studio can salvage the game or if MindsEye becomes one of gaming’s all-time technical train wrecks.
