Grand Theft Auto VI: Can Musicians Upload Their Own Music into the Game? [VIDEO]

Rockstar and Take-Two may be making a revolutionary move in the music industry with what could be the biggest release of 2026 or this console generation.

Grammy Award–winning music producer Jermaine Dupri revealed on the New Rory and Mal Show that artists will be able to upload their music directly into an as-yet-unnamed Grand Theft Auto game. Although the producer didn’t mention Grand Theft Auto VI specifically, there’s little chance this feature would make its way into the franchise’s fifth main entry, released in 2013, so it’s almost certain that this option will be present in next year’s console release. Dupri also added that Drake will have his own radio station and will be able to upload tracks to the game that can’t be found anywhere else, making Grand Theft Auto VI a music streaming service like Spotify and the rest.

While all this information should be taken with a grain of salt, it would make a lot of sense for Rockstar Games to do something like this for Grand Theft Auto VI, given how important music has always been in every installment of the series and that the game aims to become the most successful of all time. If this feature is actually coming to the game, one that already looks incredible, it will probably be available to labels, not independent artists.

Hopefully, Rockstar will not skimp on licenses, as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City featured several great rock and metal songs (Iron Maiden – 2 Minutes to Midnight, Megadeth – Peace Sells, Ozzy Osbourne – Bark at the Moon, just to name three). Grand Theft Auto VI will not be released this fall, but rather half a year later: the new release date is May 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
