Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis: What Can We Expect to See in the New Trailer?

It’s actually pretty funny when specific details about a remake of the first game in the franchise start leaking out.

The following information appeared on Alex’s Tomb Raider Blog, a Spanish blog. According to an anonymous source, the game’s development is experiencing delays, which could lead to a release date postponement. In the new trailer for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, which is still in production, we will see various key scenes showcasing the work done on the remake and announcing the game’s new release date of 2027.

The trailer begins with a conversation between Lara and Larson during their meeting in Calcutta, to which Natla joins them to discuss the Scion. Reportedly, some character animations and models are unfinished, which further supports the theory that the trailer is not final. Later, Lara Croft appears in Peru with the guide. She wears a military snow suit similar to the one Sophie Turner wears in leaked photos and videos from the set of the new Amazon Prime live-action series. Lara fights a pack of wolves at the beginning of the game. A few things appear to have changed in this scene compared to the original game.

The second half of the trailer showcases scenes such as battles with Velociraptors in Lost Valley, which, according to leaked information, is massive and breathtaking in the game. It also features Egyptian scenes and other sequences designed to highlight the remake’s complex environments, Lara’s returning acrobatic moves, and some well-known characters and enemies. One of the most surprising aspects is that, unlike the original, this new game features human enemies that must be confronted using stealth mechanics similar to those in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, albeit enhanced.

Could this be the Raiders Society, introduced in this game as part of the franchise’s new vision as we know it? The biggest cause for concern is the two-handed combat, which would theoretically remain the same as in the video. On the other hand, we could use the famous grappling hook Lara uses in the Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld games. This would return us to that style, combining it with the function the ice pick served in the reboot trilogy. The trailer ends with the caption, “Experience the adventure,” followed by the date: February 12, 2027.

It would be unfortunate if the game planned for the 30th anniversary didn’t make it to 2026.
