The developers slipped up badly enough that we even learned when this racer may actually arrive on our metaphorical table.
The planned release date for Star Wars Galactic Racer, the new racing game developed by Fuse Games and published by Secret Mode, may have surfaced ahead of schedule. The information leaked from the game’s own Steam page, which briefly listed an October 6 release date. Pre-order and edition details also appeared there. Every pre-order includes a platform-exclusive paint job – with separate versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC – plus a player banner, and that paint scheme can be applied to every speeder class. Alongside the standard pre-order bonuses, the Digital Deluxe Edition includes a digital art book, three exclusive repulsorcraft, a Deluxe paint job – again usable on every speeder -, three unique Arcade Events, and a Deluxe player banner. Anyone buying the physical Deluxe Edition also gets a steelbook. The information disappeared again quickly.
Star Wars Galactic Racer is set in the era of the New Republic, after the fall of the Empire. As the galaxy rebuilds, an obsession with speed takes hold, and from the lawless Outer Rim emerges the illegal Galactic League, where syndicates sponsor racers and fortunes are won and lost in seconds. The single-player campaign follows the Galactic League founded by Darius Pax. Pax then turns to Shade, a mysterious loner among the racers who is pursuing personal revenge against the Bool family, in an effort to overthrow Kestar’s rule and take back control of the race he created. The developers describe the campaign as a racing adventure, meaning there are elements outside the track itself that players can explore in third person between events.
The available vehicle classes include podracers, ground speeders, speed bikes, and a brand-new class called the skimspeeder, which the game introduces to the Star Wars universe. Each class comes with its own handling model and playstyle, while vehicle construction and customization are central to the experience. The game features numerous tracks spread across several Star Wars planets, including Hoth, Endor, Tatooine, Lantaana, Jakku, Ando Prime, and Sentinel One. According to the developers, there is no single ideal racing line on these tracks, so players are meant to improvise. Racers from Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace also appear, including Ben Quadinaros and Sebulba, the latter now apparently much older and sporting a beard.
Beyond the campaign, Star Wars Galactic Racer also includes arcade and PvP multiplayer modes. Arcade mode features time trials and races built around different objectives. Online multiplayer supports up to 12 players in a race, and a ranking system is also being planned. When asked about seasons, Fuse Games CEO Matt Webster gave a clear no, describing the project as a premium release and adding that season passes belong to free-to-play games in his view.
So Star Wars Galactic Racer may be heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC on October 6.
