Thick As Thieves: Warren Spector’s New Game Will Be Very Affordable! [VIDEO]

The new game from the creator of Deus Ex has a surprisingly low price tag – we did not expect it to be this inexpensive.

Warren Spector’s latest game, Thick as Thieves, developed by his team at OtherSide Entertainment, is only a few weeks away from release. In a new developer update, we learned an important detail about the stealth-action game, which originally began as PvPvE before evolving into a fully cooperative PvE experience. While we will probably keep worrying about how much Grand Theft Auto VI is going to cost until its price is finally revealed, those considering buying Thick as Thieves do not need to worry about affordability, because the game will cost just $5 or €5 at launch.

In a detailed presentation narrated by the game’s director, Jeff Hickman, we got a glimpse of Kilcairn, the game’s setting, along with the different ways players can approach levels and stealth challenges. The developers also introduced one of the main playable characters, Spider, and revealed that each playable character comes with their own stealth abilities tailored to different play styles, depending on how players want to solve a given situation.

The introductory campaign lasts at least four hours and includes 16 missions spread across two dynamic, replayable maps, while six pieces of gear can also be unlocked. According to Megabit Publishing, future plans include expanding the world and stories of Thick as Thieves with additional content, and the decision to launch with an introductory campaign reflects the team’s desire to pull players into the world as early as possible while keeping development flexible as they respond to the way players engage with the game.

It is still too early to say whether Thick as Thieves will be a success, but it is hard to ignore how much it has going for it. A team of veteran developers led by some of the industry’s most influential and iconic designers is building something that fits their strengths perfectly, and they are going to offer it at the price of an expensive cup of coffee.

Thick as Thieves launches on May 20 for PC, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions following later.
