Gears of War: E-Day: Did a Sponsorship Hint at When It’s Coming? [VIDEO]

The game is sponsoring an event, which gives us an idea of the release window.

Gears of War: E-Day is sponsoring a major professional wrestling event in September. Although nothing is certain yet, this could hint at the game’s release date. During WWE Backlash on May 9, it was announced that Triplemanía, the biggest event of the year for WWE’s Mexican Lucha Libre promotion, will take place on September 11 and 13. It was also announced that Gears of War: E-Day will be the event’s main sponsor. While this doesn’t guarantee that the game will be available by September, WWE has historically only chosen game sponsors for its events that were released around the time of the event.

This isn’t the first time WWE has collaborated with Gears of War: Kofi Kingston, Big E Langston, and Xavier Woods – collectively known as The New Day – were playable characters in Gears 5. WWE has also collaborated with Fortnite and other games in the past. The next Gears of War game does not have a final release date yet, but a showcase focusing on it is planned for June. No significant gameplay footage has been shown since 2024. The game was originally announced at the June 2024 Xbox Showcase, where only a cinematic trailer was shown. The upcoming presentation will take place on June 7, immediately following the Xbox Showcase. It was recently revealed that the event will feature approximately 30 minutes of new footage.

“I’ll say that we’ve got Gears Direct coming up. After seeing that, we’ll probably have about 30 minutes of footage, which is great. I don’t know. I love everyone in that studio and the work they’re doing. I’m excited about the game, and we’re going to have a fantastic 30 minutes of content,” Xbox CCO Matt Booty proclaimed in a recent interview.

A September release is a distinct possibility – we should have confirmation soon.
