Lords of the Fallen II previously looked set to be tied to the Epic Games Store on PC, but the agreement between CI Games and Epic Games has now ended. According to the Polish publisher’s official stock market filing, the studio has been released from its earlier obligations, which means the 2026 dark fantasy soulslike now has a clear path toward Steam and other PC storefronts.
For PC players, the word “exclusive” has always sounded strange, because the platform traditionally works as a more open ecosystem than consoles. That does not mean PC gaming is free from store-specific deals, however. Alan Wake 2 remains tied to the Epic Games Store, and many players see that as one reason its PC sales have been more limited than expected. A similar situation seemed to be forming around Lords of the Fallen II, which was previously expected to be locked to Epic’s store on PC.
Now the situation has changed significantly. According to CI Games’ official stock exchange report published through Bankier.pl, the company and Epic Games entered into a separation agreement on April 14, 2026. That agreement releases CI Games from its obligations under the Binding Publishing Term Sheet signed on June 14, 2024. In plain terms, the earlier Epic agreement that could have tied Lords of the Fallen II to the Epic Games Store no longer blocks the game from other PC storefronts in the same way.
Lords of the Fallen II Can Now Launch on Any PC Platform
The most important consequence is that Lords of the Fallen II now appears to have a real path to Steam. CI Games has not officially announced that the game will definitely launch on Valve’s platform, and there is currently no known Steam page for it, but the previous exclusivity barrier seems to be gone. That matters on PC: Steam remains the biggest PC storefront, and for a soulslike RPG of this scale, being visible in players’ regular libraries, wishlists, and community spaces can make a major difference.
At the same time, this is not a full technological break from Epic. CI Games stated that the separation agreement does not affect ongoing cooperation between the parties in relation to Unreal Engine, Epic Online Services, Epic account services, or the company’s participation in the Fortnite ecosystem. In other words, Lords of the Fallen II can still rely on Epic’s technology and infrastructure while no longer being forced into the same kind of digital PC store restriction.
The timing is also important because Lords of the Fallen II is one of CI Games’ most important 2026 projects. The 2023 Lords of the Fallen launched across multiple platforms, then spent months being improved through patches after a difficult technical start. For the sequel, the publisher will likely want to reach the largest PC audience possible. A permanent or long-term Epic exclusivity deal would have narrowed that audience considerably, even if CI Games’ leadership had previously argued that players who really want a specific game will buy it wherever it is available.
Lords of the Fallen II is still planned for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with release still expected in 2026. There is no exact date yet, but with the summer showcase season approaching, it would not be surprising if CI Games soon returns with a new trailer, a clearer release window, or confirmation of the PC storefronts that will carry the game. For now, the key point is simple: the game no longer appears trapped behind the Epic Games Store door. A Steam release has not been formally announced, but the path is now much clearer.
