PlayStation has officially announced the date for its next State of Play: the broadcast will air on June 2 at 2 PM Pacific, 5 PM Eastern and 11 PM CEST, with more than 60 minutes focused on upcoming PS5 games. One of the main attractions will be Insomniac Games‘ long-awaited Marvel’s Wolverine, with Sony promising a new gameplay look at the superhero action title.
PlayStation is now officially joining the summer showcase season. After the recent rumors, the next State of Play has been confirmed for June 2, and this will not be a short presentation built around a handful of quick trailers. According to the PlayStation Blog, viewers can expect more than 60 minutes of updates, announcements and gameplay reveals from major studios around the world, which suggests a broader show than a small thematic stream. The event will be broadcast live through the usual YouTube and Twitch channels.
Marvel’s Wolverine Finally Returns To The Spotlight
The biggest confirmed name is Marvel’s Wolverine. Insomniac Games‘ project is returning with new gameplay footage after a long wait, and the timing matters: following the success of the Marvel’s Spider-Man games, the studio’s next major Marvel production is under heavy scrutiny. The game is currently scheduled to launch on September 15, 2026 for PlayStation 5, so this new showing should be more than a mood piece. Sony now has to demonstrate what kind of speed, brutality, level design and action rhythm players can expect from Logan’s own adventure.
The show may still have more to offer beyond Marvel’s Wolverine. The official announcement promises updates and gameplay reveals from top studios, so Sony may combine first-party material with major third-party appearances. Players will naturally be watching for already announced or heavily discussed PS5 projects such as Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Fairgame$, or further developments connected to the Horizon universe, but for now those expectations should remain cautious. Officially, PlayStation has confirmed the length of the broadcast, the date and time, and the central presence of Marvel’s Wolverine.
That makes the June 2 presentation one of the more important PlayStation events of the year. The PS5 generation is now at a point where players want more than vague promises: they want gameplay, dates and a clearer release calendar. Marvel’s Wolverine is strong enough to carry attention by itself, but a 60-plus-minute State of Play needs more than one headline game to feel substantial. On June 2, we will see how much weight Sony‘s next wave of PS5 titles really has.
