Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent: The First Video Game from the Tabletop RPG Is Here! [VIDEO]

The high fantasy tactical RPG from Artefacts Studio and New Tales is now available, although one current-gen console has been left out.

The legendary board game series is coming to consoles and PC for the first time. Dark forces are invading the lands of Terrinoth. Yet somewhere out there lies a forgotten relic that could turn the tide. Such power must not fall into the wrong hands, or the fate of the world will sink into endless darkness. Assemble your band of adventurers, head into the dangerous tunnels of Terrinoth, face the mysterious upheaval caused by an occult master, and discover a fully original story that serves as a standalone prequel to Descent: Legends of the Dark.

Choose from eight distinctive adventurers, each with their own backstory and combat style. Improve your abilities and perks as you level up; upgrade your equipment at the Forge; and become an undefeated company of heroes. Explore 20 massive dungeons with unique environments and full voice acting. Meet characters whose dynamic dialogue adapts to your party, and complete side quests with narrative highlights. Dive into tactical combat without a steep learning curve or complicated rulebooks. Use positioning, elevation, line of sight, and timing against cunning enemies and ruthless bosses. Unleash multi-character combos and finish them with devastating synergy attacks.

Discover an epic story-driven campaign made up of four themed chapters, divided into several self-contained missions. Each can be completed within one evening’s play session and offers a unique, replayable experience. It is a perfect choice for game night. Face the forces of darkness alone, or team up online with up to four friends, with full controller support. Friends can even join in the middle of a dungeon.

“As longtime fans ourselves, we faced a significant challenge in adapting the license to stay true to the essence of Terrinoth while offering our own interpretation. We wanted to capture the unique atmosphere and accessibility of the Descent universe and naturally translate them into a true video game experience, all while maintaining the soul of the original board game” – wrote Bruno Chabanel, CEO of Artefacts Studio, in the press release. “Seeing the Descent universe come to life in a full-fledged video game has been a longstanding request from fans. Artefacts Studio has managed to stay true to the original spirit while delivering a stunning cinematic presentation” – added Bill Altig, vice president of narrative games at Asmodee.

Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. It costs $35/€35. Nintendo Switch 2 has been left out.
