[XGS 2026] Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember: Team Ninja Strikes Again! [VIDEO]

The sequel in the genre the Japanese studio calls Masocore is also appearing somewhere it has never appeared before.

The story is set in the late Eastern Han dynasty, when various warlords fought for power and the heroes of the Three Kingdoms stepped onto the stage. From the flames of war, a phoenix rises, while a nameless champion battles across vast battlefields against powerful enemies and fearsome monsters. In the long-awaited sequel to Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, which has drawn more than 5 million players worldwide, players must master evolved Chinese martial arts and conquer the battlefields of the Three Kingdoms, overrun by monstrous demons, alongside famous heroes who left their mark on history.

Although details remain scarce, we believe the reveal video already shows everything players need to know: intense action, huge enemies, historical figures from the late Han dynasty mixed with demons, and combat mechanics built on the Deflection mechanic that has defined the game since development began on the first entry. Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember also marks the debut of Team Ninja’s Masocore games on Nintendo consoles, as the game will launch in early 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

Depending on its success on the Big N’s platform, which launched a year ago, there is a good chance the second entry will open the door to ports of other games, including the Nioh series, whose third installment came out this year for PlayStation 5 and PC and delivers one of the Japanese studio’s best experiences. In fact, perhaps Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty could also make its way to Nintendo Switch 2, since that would at least allow Team Ninja’s game to reach a new audience.

If we do not want to buy Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, there is also an alternative, as the announcement says it will be available through Xbox Game Pass when it launches.
