Amazon Has Let New GTA 6 Details Slip, and Social Media Appears to Be More Important Than We Thought

It seemed that the more complicated period surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI was behind us and that meaningful new information might not arrive until a third trailer appeared. Amazon Brazil’s pre-order listing has now stirred discussion again, however, as its description outlines several smaller but intriguing details about Rockstar’s next open-world game. It does not reveal the main plot, but its references to NPC behaviour, interactive locations, and social media could offer a revealing glimpse of the world the studio is building.

Many players may have assumed that the turbulent days surrounding GTA 6 were over and that fresh information would remain scarce for some time, perhaps until the long-awaited third trailer finally arrived. Instead, the confirmation of the game’s launch price and the controversy surrounding claims that the physical edition will not include a disc have reignited arguments about whether people should pre-order the game or even buy it at all. Amid that debate, many may not have noticed that retail listings for the game have also begun circulating new details.

Amazon Brazil’s Grand Theft Auto VI page does not reveal anything truly decisive. It says nothing about the main story, and it does not answer whether players will travel to another state, as they did in Grand Theft Auto V or Red Dead Redemption 2, or remain entirely within Rockstar’s version of Florida, known here as Leonida. The listing does reaffirm several details that have already been discussed, including a key mechanic from the previous Grand Theft Auto: players will reportedly be able to switch freely between Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos while exploring the map, while certain missions will allow the two protagonists to take part together.

The more genuinely new information appears to concern NPCs. Rockstar has always worked to make its non-player characters feel as realistic as possible, but the Amazon description suggests that GTA 6 could use a more advanced artificial intelligence system than the one seen in Arthur Morgan’s adventure. NPCs are said to have their own routines, random events may unfold around them, and the game will feature what the listing calls “interactive establishments”, all of which could reinforce the feeling that Leonida is a living environment with its own momentum.

Social Media Will Be Extremely Important in GTA 6

The most intriguing element of the description is what it calls “social media integration.” Through the protagonists’ mobile phones, players may be able to watch viral videos, follow influencers, and discover events and side missions, expanding significantly on the phone-based systems already present in GTA V. It remains unclear how deeply this mechanic will affect gameplay or how Rockstar will address real-world dependence on social media, but it could become another contemporary social phenomenon that the Scottish team chooses to explore through satire.

The listing also makes several rather vague claims about the project’s technical ambitions. According to the description, GTA 6 will include dynamic lighting, although it provides no precise details about ray tracing, alongside a more natural animation system and environments with a higher level of detail than those in previous games. For now, it is best to remain cautious about those claims and wait for technical impressions from the media once Rockstar gives approval for more detailed coverage in the coming months.
