Is Alkimia Interactive Making a Remake of the Second Installment of Gothic, Too? [VIDEO]

Although the studio did not specify what is coming next, the timing and location of the announcement strongly suggest what the studio will be working on.

Alkimia Interactive and THQ Nordic revealed that Gothic Remake, which launched on June 5 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC and has already sold at least 500,000 copies, will receive content updates after launch. This is the most recent official figure we have, and although the road to launch was rocky and there were many delays, this still seems like an outstanding achievement. However, something is already in the works behind the scenes.

“Over the next couple of months, we plan to continue updating Gothic Remake. First and foremost, there will be bug fixes and further polishing updates. We’re going to analyze what needs to be fixed and improved. But these updates are not all we have planned: we also have new features in the pipeline. For example, we’re planning to introduce a photo mode, a Marvin mode, and some new modes featuring alternative progression mechanics, as well as mod support. We look forward to seeing what you build with it, and we’ll continuously upgrade it with more modding possibilities. At some point, we will announce our new game, which will probably be at the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase next year” said Reinhard Pollice, head of studio and game director at Alkimia Interactive.

Since we have already mentioned Gothic Remake, which is set to receive several content expansions including photo mode, Marvin mode, alternative progression, and mod-kit support, Gothic 2 Remake will likely be next. After all, Alkimia Interactive was founded several years ago specifically to work on this remake. Unless THQ Nordic assigns Alkimia a different project, the team will probably continue working on this franchise.

When will THQ Nordic announce that Gothic Remake has reached one million sales? Perhaps we will hear this from the publisher as early as September.
