Nvidia: The Latest Driver Doesn’t Solve the Black Screen Problem!

TECH NEWS – And on top of that, games that support DLSS 4 (Multi-Frame Generation [MFG]) are experiencing more problems…

The latest Nvidia GeForce RTX 5000 series graphics cards based on the Blackwell architecture have received a new driver that didn’t work for many users, but rather made things worse.A few days ago, the 572.60 driver was released (GeForce cards use the Game Ready branch of the driver, RTX cards that used to run under the Quadro branding use the RTX branch of the driver), which was supposed to fix the DisplayPort connection issues, and the update also addressed the BIOS. Except that games supporting MFG started crashing with the new driver.

Nvidia released a hotfix version, the 572.65 driver, but that didn’t fix the problems either! The black screen problem isn’t limited to MFG-enabled games, it’s just more common in those titles, suggesting that Nvidia’s driver didn’t help much.Since then, the crashes have become rare, but there are still questions about what exactly is causing them.Maybe it’s the way MFG works on Blackwell GPUs.

What can be done? It’s worth going back to a previous driver (and running DDU, or Display Driver Uninstaller, for a complete cleanup), as the crashes were not as frequent with an older driver.Tim Sweeney and his team reported that the platform has over 295 million accounts (an increase of 25 million in one year) and 67 million monthly users who have played a total of 7.72 billion hours through the Epic Games Launcher. This is further proof that the PC is doing well, and it’s no coincidence that we’re seeing multiplatform strategies from several companies (Sony and Square Enix are also trying). It’s no use: if a game is released on PC, it can appeal to a larger audience and the company/publisher can make more profit from it.
