Monster Hunter Wilds: Already in The Top 5 on Steam!

Despite this, Capcom’s game did not receive very positive reviews, and the Japanese company had to fix a serious problem.

Monster Hunter Wilds far surpassed the previous two titles, Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise, which reached 334,000 and 221,000 players respectively. In comparison, the new episode reached 1.38 million players, FOUR times the number of players of Monster Hunter World, and managed to climb into the top five on Steam with the RE engine.

Only four other games reached more concurrent players: PUBG: Battlegrounds, Black Myth: Wukong, Palworld, and Counter-Strike 2. Monster Hunter Wilds even managed to beat a free-to-play action RPG, Lost Ark. It is unlikely that Counter-Strike 2’s record of 1.8 million concurrent users will ever be broken (Capcom’s game is paid, Valve’s is free-to-play).

But that doesn’t mean the reviews are that good. On Steam, only 54% of gamers gave the game a positive rating, which is far below the previous two games (Monster Hunter World: 89%, Monster Hunter Rise: 82%), presumably due to the lack of challenge and very poor PC performance. However, the latter is something that Capcom may not be able to improve in time. Dragon’s Dogma 2 has also been (mostly) patched by the Japanese company, but still the ratings have not increased that much in the time since its release.

Capcom wrote on Twitter that there is a possibility that an NPC will not appear, which will prevent us from continuing the story beyond Chapter 5-2 (A World Turned Upside Down). If we can get past that point in Monster Hunter Wilds, we won’t have to worry about this bug anymore…

The only question is, how could Capcom have missed such bugs? Was it really overlooked during the QA process?
