Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Closed Alpha Announced With Four Icons [VIDEO]

Gameplay Group has confirmed a closed alpha for the 1v1, hand-drawn 2D fighter Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, though timing and access details remain under wraps. What’s locked in is that the early build will feature four playable characters—Aang, Korra, Katara, and Zuko—while the full release is currently slated for Summer 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and PC (Steam).

Rooted in elemental mastery, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game channels the spirit of classic fighters while pushing movement, style, and combat expression to the forefront. The developers emphasize fluidity, responsiveness, and online integrity so that every exchange feels deliberate. Its hand-drawn 2D presentation aims to preserve the expressive animation of the original series.

At launch, the roster will comprise 12 playable characters, with a seasonal model expanding the cast over time. Selectable assist characters will shape your playstyle and unlock special techniques. A signature Flow system sits at the core, rewarding rhythm, repositioning, and creative combo routes. The package also includes a single-player campaign with an original narrative, Combo Trials, and a Gallery mode.

Online, the team promises top-tier rollback netcode and full cross-play. Details on how to join the closed alpha will be shared later; the announcement trailer already shows snippets of Aang, Korra, and Zuko trading blows.
